Road around the island
There are several ways to get around Thassos. The cheapest option is to travel by local bus or rent a car or motorcycle.
If you don't come to Thassos by car, there is nothing easier than renting a car or scooter and exploring the island. The island has practically only one path stretching along the coast. You can't get lost here. The trip around the island is about 90 km long and it is a very pleasant experience. You can get around it in less than 2 hours, but if you set aside a day for this trip, you will not regret it. The reward will be a number of explored corners, various beaches, beautiful views and a lot of amazing photos in your camera, which you will be happy to view even after years.

On the island of Thassos you have the opportunity to use the services you are used to from elsewhere, in full. There are several car and motorbike and scooter rentals on the island. Of course, the insurance policies are provided for all vehicles, our main partners include them automatically and provide a truly full service. Local rentals can be up to a quarter cheaper than large international rentals. You need an international driver's license older than one year and over the age of 21.
Car rental
Our travel agency cooperates with selected rental companies, one of which is Car rental National Friend. These rental companies always treat our clients seriously, adhere to the services offered and, in the event of a problem, act immediately. Our clients can contact us at any time with a request to rent a car and we will arrange everything necessary with the rental company. All rented cars arranged by us include full insurance in the price. Rentals will deliver the ordered car directly to your villa / hotel around 9 am and take it away again at night or early in the morning. Prices range from 25 € to 50 € per day depending on the type of vehicle and season.
Motorcycle, scooter and ATV rental
Our partner for renting scooters and motorcycles is Moto Rent Easy Rider's. Based in Potos, they have a large selection of scooters, powerful enduro and quad bikes. For more information on prices ranging from € 12.00 to € 40.00, contact your travel agent or our delegates. As with car rental, we will help you with motor rental.
Taxi
Of course, you will also find taxi cars in every resort or city, which will take you where you need to go. The price of a taxi ride for 1 km is about 1 euro + boarding rate. Taxi drivers are honest, you should not be charged more than they should. In any case, it is always better to ask the driver in advance at what price it will take you to the place you want.
Bus service
Transportation on the island of Thassos is also possible by local bus. It is reliable and can be reached by bus to all major cities and resorts. Tickets are bought directly from the driver and are in euro units. The timetable can be found at this link.
Information for drivers
The maximum permitted speed in the village is 50 km / h, on roads 90 km / h, on the highway 120 km / h. The Greek Motorcycle Club (ELPA) helps motorists in trouble on number 104. If you go to the inner part of the island, you will need a good map. Free camping (excluding campsites) is strictly forbidden. If you drive your own car, do not forget the technical card and the green card (proof of insurance).
Take extra care when driving. Not all roads are in good condition and Greek drivers ignore traffic regulations. There are heavy fines for speeding and blood alcohol. Above 0.5 per mille is classified as a criminal offense.
